I need some roofing ideas, I have a pegola over my patio and would like suggestions on roofing. I currently have vinyl lattice and would rather a solid roof to stop rain and block most/all the sun. I have looked at zinc, plastic/vinyl sheets, the material used on our roof etc. I want something that looks good but not that expensive and something I can DIY. Thanks, pic for ref.

Yes, its covered with vinyl lattice, but I want to remove that and add a solid roof. There’s flashing installed already but I would have to add some wood to create a pitch. No snow. |

We’re doing a pergola/car port and I came up with adding strips of vinyl between the 2×12 “joists” in such a way that the strip is attached at the topmost part of the joist at one end and the bottom-most part at the other. When viewed from the depth/board side of the pergola these strips won’t show. |

Another suggestion but it involves fabric. This company makes the panels. Or you could give up the pergola look altogether and add a solid roof. |
